Strictly Writing: Caroline Green

Caroline Green is a YA author and journalist, whose first novel, Dark Ride, won the Romantic Novelists Association Young Adult Novel of the Year 2012 and the Waverton Good Read Award 2012. The book was nominated for several other awards, including the Branford Boase, the Sussex Great Reads Award and the Redbridge Book Award.

Her second book, Cracks is a dystopian thriller to be launched in May 2012 and a third will be out in 2013. Caroline regularly pinches herself at having finally got published, after spending several years on the slushpile and is a firm believer in the mantra, ‘Never give up..’

A love which requires great resilience in the face of recurrent self-doubt, writer's block and rejection. In the face of the obsessive checking of emails, inch high dust and burnt dinners. In the face of a gamut of RSI injuries and writer's bottom. But a love that repays itself ten times over with those sparkling seconds of elation when finally, the right prose unfolds, like a quick-footed jive or seamless Cha Cha Cha. That's when we trust once again the voice in our heads that urges... "Keeeeep writing!"
