Friday's Reading Round up...

When you see someone on the tube or the bus do you check out what they're reading?

Do you wonder what books other people have on their bedside table?

Don't know about you lot but for we Strictlies it's guilty as charged. So please indulge our nosiness and tell us what you're reading at present. We won't judge. And just to show our good faith, here's the list of what we've got on the go...

Helen is reading Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg.
Fi has her head in The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
For Debs, it's Me Before You by Jo Jo Moyes.
Susie's half way through Three Men On a Plane by Mavis cheeks.
Gillian is juggling two: Cold Light by Jenn Ashworth and The Sisters Brothers by Patrick de Witt.
Caroline G is reading Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.
And Rod is into Antoinette Quinn's biography of Patrick Kavanagh.

But this must surely win a prize?
Our Caroline R has this one keeping her up at night: The Worm in the Bud: The World of Victorian Sexuality by Ronald Pearsall.

So come one. Fess up. Tell us what you're reading.

Umm, The Book of Daniel by E.L. Doctorow. Very haunted writing.

One Day byDavid Nicholls and The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson. Two for the price of one at Tescos. I was book hungry and showed very little restraint!

Oooh... Angelslake, did you see the film for One Day first or is this a virgin read? Very jealous when somebody is reading a book I LOVE for the first time!

Angelslake said...

Hi Debs! Total virgin read! I have heard of the film and may yet get to see it, but happy to be reading book first.

So Much for That - by Lionel Shriver. Nothing like as good as Kevin.

And yes, guilty as charged - I always try to see that people are reading.

I'm reading Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by John le Care. I can't believe I've only just got round to reading this! Where have you been all my life?

Caroline Rance said...

Lindsay - I'll be reading The Tiger's Wife soon for my book group. I've deliberately not found out anything about it beyond the title, so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like.

Chillcat - I loved TBOD. Read it many years ago and it still haunts me. I will read it again on your prompting.

Also, Jo, I couldn't finish so much for that. A great shame after enjoying Kevin so much, both book and film. Enjoy is not exactly the right word for WNTTAK..

I like to alternate fiction and non-fiction.
just finished Daniel Kehlmann's Fame, and now reading Birdscapes by Jeremy Mynott. Then it will be Ice by Anna Kavan, followed by To a mountain in Tibet.
And my current classic being reread is Kafka's The Castle.
