It has been on my conscience that I have been very busy doing other things - editing, writers' group, reading, book reviews, tweeting and facebook - that I haven't actually been putting pen to paper (or finger to keyboard). Thank you for the timely reminder as to what I am supposed to be doing!Catharine Withenayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06936767499911371984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-10995315874795685132012-03-05T16:18:48.940+00:002012-03-05T16:18:48.940+00:00A very timely post, Rin, as I've just joined a...A very timely post, Rin, as I've just joined a writing group (of - now - 3!) and already I know it's going to be the best way to spend a couple of hours a week - if not actually writing, at least being with other people who 'get it'.Debs Ricciohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04187829719387642487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-29049800795364107502012-03-05T13:45:02.519+00:002012-03-05T13:45:02.519+00:00Hi everyone, thanks so much for commenting. Your meeting place sounds a bit like the one that used to occur every Monday evening in the public area at the back of the Royal Festival Hall in London. Maybe it still does - I never got around to going, so I don't know. I thought it would be just another time waster.

Now I've bowed to pressure and joined FB, but I've had to impose time limits. As Lari says, sometimes it's all about marketing - or learning, or reading about how to improve your writing - and whilst this is important, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that none of it would exist without the writing itself! Thanks for starting the Steady Table: I'm already benefitting from it!
SusiexSusie Nott-Bowerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08428000582406338267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-91474137321582538962012-03-05T08:03:05.943+00:002012-03-05T08:03:05.943+00:00@Lari Lol, real life? (I would add to it: writing lists about writing. Some days I have a higher wordcount in to do lists than I do in chapters!) Another not quite writing activity which is a challenge for published children's writers is the school visits you have to do to promote your books, and probaly want to do to keep in touch with your target audience. It's about being a writer, but it isn't writing. Thanks for this post. As soon as I've met 60 kids today, tweeted, posted my own blog, reviewed a book on goodreads and fed my kids (real life, is there room for that too?) I'll get straight back to the novel...Lari Donhttp://www.laridon.co.uknoreply@blogger.com
