I've just finished my 8th novel and sorry to say, it was harder than ever - you're quite right: when writing your first, you just WRITE. Nothing else gets in the way! I don't think I've ever felt quite so free, since. But in future I'll remember that comment, and write the first draft FOR ME! Very best of luck with this one - you'll be fine!
Claire, glad you feel inspired, and what a very sensible outlook!
SusiexSusie Nott-Bowerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08428000582406338267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-9581246421277224432009-11-25T12:56:43.042+00:002009-11-25T12:56:43.042+00:00Great post Susie - I am suffering from the same sy...Great post Susie - I am suffering from the same syndrome myself at the moment and feel inspired now after reading this! I started off Book 2 determined not to make the same mistakes I did writing Book 1 - then I realised that those mistakes had got me the finished product that I now love. So I've decided that perhaps they weren't mistakes after all, just part of the process - I know think of them as 'just how I write'. It makes me feel a lot more in control!Claire Mosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03596485432391951307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-18665208259510474132009-11-24T20:54:09.970+00:002009-11-24T20:54:09.970+00:00Apart from ny first novel, which I wrote purely fo...Apart from ny first novel, which I wrote purely for my own amusement, I've found them all difficult in their own way.

Book two was hard becasue I was overcome with doubt. Book one was not only published but selling well and I was convinced it was all a fluke.
When I gave book two to my ed and everyone declared it better than the first I was overjoyed. At the end of the novel you'll have something that never existed before, something no one else could write! And incidentally, we look forward to hearing about it at the next Famous Five gathering!DThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11803989273524731892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-42080785899785802852009-11-24T10:52:48.554+00:002009-11-24T10:52:48.554+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.DThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11803989273524731892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-43247890050883522102009-11-24T08:39:51.988+00:002009-11-24T08:39:51.988+00:00Oh Susie, you've inspired me this morning!
