I suppose just another example of a book that can't translate to the big screen without seeming transparent. I quite enjoyed 'Something Borrowed' - thought it was more meaty than usual rom-com-dramas, I didn't know there was a book of it though! Might check it out so.Siobhánhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11146329432858420431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-78153479433362800532011-10-24T16:58:45.616+01:002011-10-24T16:58:45.616+01:00MorningAJ how do you know if a book is going to be...MorningAJ how do you know if a book is going to be made into a film, though - unless you wait a good year or so after it's publication?
Another film I thoroughly enjoyed was 'the Notebook' but that's now put me off reading the book.
Dracula, on the other hand - films - fun, frothy, fangtastical - the book? meh....Debs Ricciohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10837598374947020855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-72052020597024867042011-10-24T15:06:58.683+01:002011-10-24T15:06:58.683+01:00Water for Elephants - Great book but I didn't ...Water for Elephants - Great book but I didn't enjoy the film, possibly because Reese Witherspoon was cast as the leading lady. In my head, she lookds nothing like the book character.
Something I loathe about book to film is when the filmakers completely change the location eg PS I love You (book Ireland, film New York)Fionnualahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12275984316414726884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-16931158364710967892011-10-24T12:53:09.024+01:002011-10-24T12:53:09.024+01:00Apart from Harry Potter I haven't read or seen...Apart from Harry Potter I haven't read or seen any of these. I tend to avoid books that they make films of and films from books. Ever since I saw Contact (based on the wonderful Carl Sagan novel) and they totally changed the whole point of the story I've been averse to book-to-film.MorningAJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04719744167307369768noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2725342624231517088.post-6423065051577507202011-10-24T08:38:01.214+01:002011-10-24T08:38:01.214+01:00The Help film is good.
