If he waited say, the 24 hours they normally tell a patient's family, to see if the open heart he'd just performed had been as successful as he'd hoped, then, if he didn't move straight onto his next operation, he might stop performing live-saving procedures altogether. <br />I think what my brain is trying to say is that we HAVE to move on sharpish otherwise we end up wallowing in a mire of rejection self-pity.
